'Saving Hope' cast & crew congratulatory buffet!

I am so thrilled to have had the opportunity to design a dessert buffet to celebrate the success of the new CTV hit Saving Hope! Unfortunately I can't share with you just how amazing this display turned out because I did not get the greatest pictures. Note to self, buy a camera and learn how to use it. But here are a few iphone shots to give you an idea of the awesomeness of it all.  She Takes The Cake baked a vanilla cake with hazelnut filling, and all the fondant work is done by me. The incredible custom cookies are courtesy of Gurts, who did an exceptional job.
CONGRATULATIONS cast & crew! If you haven't seen Saving Hope yet, catch it on Thursdays at 9pm ET/PT on CTV :)

my sweathearts 30th

Okay I'll admit it. I am one of the lucky ones who has an incredibly handsome, sweet, sexy & hilarious man in my life.  Thank you universe. For his 30th Birthday, TJ wanted to spend the day eating his favorite foods, drinking his favorite drinks, and relaxing with his favorite people. Lucky for him his mom and dad came to town from BC and helped make that possible. Between me and his mom, everything from homemade sliders, and wings, to a dozen appetizers were made from scratch especially for his birthday.

Of course, it wouldn't be a party at our place if there wasn't a little Darling & Daisy action in there somewhere.
The day before the party {yes I know I'm nuts, thank you} I had the brilliant idea of making some of his favorite things into edible deliciousness, & baking his favorite treats. The Vancouver Canuck's being at the top of the list, the jersey sugar cookies were 100% necessary. Extra chewy chocolate chip cookies, and my famous 'lush bites' {decedent chocolate cake rolled in fresh vanilla butter cream and dipped in chocolate ganache} were a delicious addition to his 2 most loved foods made into yummy cakes.

We had a blast, and a belly & headache the next day to prove it.

Happy, full & maybe a little tipsy birthday boy with his 2 favourite ladies! His beautiful mamma Lil & me!

heart shaped sugar cubes | DIY

We absolutely love these little guys, they are super fun to add to your wedding or party. We think it would be cute to have them served with coffee and tea, or on a candy table.

Another great idea would be to give them with bags of coffee or coffee cups as favors if you're a coffee lover. A darling & daisy DIY original!

Here are the instructions, enjoy!

Equipment:
small bowls
greaseproof paper (parchment/wax paper)
small heart-shaped cookie cutter
teaspoon
granulated sugar
food colours

1. Prepare bowl with sugar. Then add a tiny drop of food colour to the sugar, and a little water to make it damp. Mix until evenly coloured.

2. On a piece of greaseproof paper, push a small amount of sugar firmly into the heart cutter (see 1) and level the top with a spoon (see 2). Carefully lift off the cutter and let dry (see 3&4)**

3. Repeat until all the sugar is used up.

** note: make sure that you do not try and move the cubes until they are dry, about 1/2 hour
