cakes | mini cakes| cupcakes | cookies | made by Natalie & I

The days of The Lush Cake were pretty crazy, I will admit. Here are a few of my favorite custom cakes baked from scratch and designed by Nat & I.  A one of a kind cake makes for a stunning centerpiece to any dessert buffet, and here's a little inspiration to prove it!

Notice the sour expressions on our faces? The following creations are a by-product of a constant state of cake insanity. I'd say it was worth it, do you agree?

shabby & sweet bridal shower

Sometimes leaving the city can be so peaceful and relaxing.  Much like doing this little table design for Ashley's bridal shower in the lovely town of Carleton Place, just outside of Ottawa.

When Dana first messaged me, I knew she wanted something extra special for her best friends shower.  She knew all Ashley's favorite desserts and told me she loves the country and romance novels.

On a tight budget I designed a pretty little display & baked some very special sweets.
there were 10 guests, so I made a vanilla mini cake with french vanilla buttercream for each lady.
Ashley's has 3 favorite desserts. The first is s'mores, yes! This is the second most amazing way to enjoy a s'more, trust me I ate the tester.

in small mason jars I put a layer of gram cracker crumbs and butter, followed by devils food cake mixed with chocolate ganache and topped with fresh marshmallows. I put them in the oven for 3 minutes on broil and VOILA! the top got nice and toasty and the inside perfectly gooey and warm. Yumminess in a jar!

Ashley's second favorite dessert is lofthouse cookies. Of course, I had to find a way to get a similar taste but make them fresh. I made big soft sugar cookies and topped them with a vanilla almond buttercream frosting. Dana said they were the best cookies she ever tasted. Wohoo, success!
Her third favorite treat is peanut M&M's.  I made these truffles by grinding up peanut M&M's and mixing them with melted milk chocolate, then rolling the mixture into balls around a full M&M, dipping them in melted semi sweet chocolate and rolling them in cocoa.
They were super decidant and delicious.
Thank you Dana for making me a part of Ashley's special day!

"build your own cup cake" buffet

Yes you read that right, It's a build your own cupcake bar! 150 cupcakes, 3 cake flavors {red velvet, chocolate, vanilla}, 3 yummy frosting choices {strawberry, chocolate & french vanilla buttercream}, and tons of sprinkle options.
Designed for a wedding, but imagine the "build your own" possibilities for any celebration.

Erin & Paul's DIY white wedding buffet

When I first met Erin, she was a vibrant, beautiful, soon to be bride who wanted something unique for her special day, but wasn't really sure what.  When I showed her our Ladies Only Engagement Celebration, she was swooning! From that inspiration we decided on a simple all white buffet with red velvet cuppies {Paul's favorite}.

This was a DIY wedding buffet on a budget, and I had so much fun doing it.

My favorite project was the "Truffle Trees."  Those little buds are cookie dough goodness dipped in chocolate coating, wrapped up and ready for picking.

I made the ruffled backdrop panels by hand, using white streamers, a glue stick, and 3 pieces of cardboard. The cake pop stands are made from white dollar store boxes with a row of streamer ruffles and a row of white lace, then lined with Styrofoam and filled with sugar.

Okay, let's be honest.  I know my pictures aren't great, and when I work alone my posts are not as fancy and beautiful as when I work with Natalie. BUT I just got a new camera {I have no idea how to use it yet} so gimme some time and I promise my pictures will get better :)

Here is the finished product!

Congratulations Erin & Paul,  I wish you love and happiness forever & always!
