The Caketress

It's amateur video hour again, starring behind the scenes fun with the Caketress.
Elizabeth Kaye snapped beautiful photos, Sarah Smith MUA created makeup magic, and I designed a set that only the queen of cake could rock.

I can't wait to share Beth's pictures of Lori's new collection, but for now he's a sneaky peaky.

Ross turns 30

What's better than a party? a SURPRISE party! Amanda asked me to create a killer dessert table and boy-ishly awesome space for her husband Ross 30th birthday. As much as I love pastels and glitter, I was so excited to do something different. I asked Amanda to tell me a bit about Ross, and learned he grew up in Scotland, loves traveling, sweets, soccer, beer and other typical guy stuff.

A very generous friend of my mine mailed me hundreds of bottle caps all the way from BC that he's collected over the past 10 years. I made a giant marquee 30 covered in caps, and used them throughout the space. My talented friend Sarah painted a few cake toppers for me that I think brought everything together.

Julie

Julie is that rare clients you know will become a long time friend. She put her utmost faith in me and let me use my creativity to design her bridal shower.  She even invited Sheena and I to stay for lunch. Just your average 3 course Italian meal with about 100 desserts (per person).

It was amazing, and so is she.

Since I was hanging around enjoying the company of over 200 beautiful woman, I couldn't help but make a little home video to capture how truly stunning Julie is. If you pay attention to the honest love and affection she shares with her family and friends, you will no doubt see the light that shines so bright in this young woman. She was genuinely grateful for me, and every person attending this celebration that meant so much to her.

I created a ton of fun details for this, including some pretty styled mannequins, and a pretty sweet little sweet display. Pictures coming soon, but for now, press play and enjoy :)

CAUTION: I am not a videographer. No tripod, no fancy camera, just a chick who finds this really fun (and strangely relaxing).

'Meet The Girls!'

Our new website is sooo close to being complete, which means an organized portfolio of our work, comprehensive information about our services, AND I can have my life back! We are not web designers, but we are stubborn as hell. Hence why we do everything ourselves.

Sometimes it's a curse, but in the end I think the website will rock. Here's a little video I edited from an impromptu shoot we did this past weekend to help us launch this holiday season! It's for the 'Meet The Girls' page on our site.

We ain't videographers, and it's a little mad watching a crazy baby run around while shooting and working on a hundred things at once and trying to get it all done before the sun goes down...but I still kinda like it. It's fun learning new things and the sort of "home-video" style of it is true to Darling and Daisy.

Whatch'ya think?

Ellia Turns One

A artistic and well decorated party is a beautiful thing, but honestly, the only that really matters at any celebration is sharing love with friends and family. That's all. I made this little video to capture the day and to remind her (when she's a bratty teen who thinks we are all uncool and old) that her family loves her from the depth of our hearts.

She inspires me more that I could have ever expected. It's sometimes hard to believe that someone so small could have so much of my heart.
Note: I am a total amateur at this...no idea what I am doing, but it's FUN!

Our theme was "She's a Gem," and trust me...that she is.

A Pretty High Tea Bridal Shower Buffet - Preview

http://www.wedluxe.com/index.cfm?pagepath&id=6997&modeX=BlogID&modeXval=12944&BlogID=12944&action=showcomments&title=A-Tea-Party-Bridal-Shower

Well this one sure was fun.  Although baking and I have a love/hate relationship, I can't deny how calming and feminine it makes me feel. Jenn is a beautiful (and the most organized EVER) bride to be who wanted everything to be perfect for her high tea theme bridal shower. She asked me to do a dessert buffet with tons of homemade sweets and an original design concept.

Although I am happy to show off my love of extreme girly-ness, my most my favorite part of this buffet was incorporating some of my beloved Italian desserts, and a simple homemade backdrop.
